EuroGames Village – Something Different!
What makes EuroGames Helsinki different and exciting, is the EuroGames & Pride Village. Situated in the city centre, a few steps away from the Railway Station, it is the gathering point for all athletes and visitors during the games. It is also the focal point of Helsinki Pride party on Saturday.
The Village brings The Midsummer Festival in the heart of Helsinki. The sun hardly goes down and the legends tell that you may see you future partner on these magic nights.
Highlights of the Village
Opening Ceremony & Party
In Helsinki, the athletes are the stars. Prepare to wave your flag in front of thousands of people when walking the catwalk at the main stage. The party will go on with outstanding artists.
In addition to sports, we will offer you experiences from panel discussions to show wrestling. The Village will be hosting events during the whole games from noon to late night. Daily program is listed below.
Finns love their sauna and it is a part of their everyday life. We have planned an authentic Finnish sauna experience with wood heated saunas. There will also be hot tubs to make closer companionship in your fellow athletes. Btw, in traditional Finnish sauna, clothing is optional. Saunas are located in the restaurant area. Towels are 8 € or bring your own.
Finnish cuisine is naturally superfood with lots of whole grain, berries and vegetables. Make sure you try some local delicacies as well as international foods. Our restaurants will ensure you the best performance on and off the track.
EuroGames bar in the Village
Have a great time with your new best friends in the Village restaurant. This is a great place to meet after your day’s competing. Fags and their hags, drags, stand up, music, dj’s, discussions, you will find it all in the restaurant area. See the daily program below.
Exhibition: Against the Rules – Lesbians and Gays in Sport
Homosexuality is still somewhat a taboo in sports. The exhibition aims to help remove the taboos from the subject, and draw attention to the various forms of discrimination against sexual minorities in sport.
The exhibition consists of 37 banners in total, of which 15 will be seen in Helsinki. Come “meet” the athletes of the exhibition and learn about the discrimination they have faced. The exhibition will be present at the restaurant tent of the EuroGames Village June 29 – July 2.
In summer, when the sun doesn’t set at all, Finns get crazy ideas. In the Village you get to try at least the weird log petanque “mölkky”, which you can play for free. Info tent will lend you the game for free.
For total relaxation, we have two masseurs in the Village. For 20 €, you can heal those sore muscles after your performance on the track.
Do not go home empty handed
The Village also hosts a number of shopping options. You will find Tom of Finland products from textiles to coffee, EuroGames design products, beloved Moomin caracters as well as rainbow and EuroGames design.
The Closing Ceremony, Pride picnic & concert
The Closing Ceremony of EuroGames 2016 takes place on the Saturday afternoon. The Closing Ceremony begins with the Pride Parade, which ends in the EuroGames Village, which will serve as a venue for the Helsinki Pride Park Festival. We are preparing a unique experience in the Village and its surrounding park areas to have fun, enjoy music, make new friends and have good times.
